Ridgefield Education Foundation Announces New President

July 21, 2016, Ridgefield Ct- Ridgefield Education Foundation (REF) is excited to introduce  Pamela Banks, as their new president. Ms. Banks is a local Business/Transaction attorney who joined the Board in 2015.  When asked about REF she stated, “Ridgefield is a great community, especially to raise a family.  The Ridgefield Education Foundation is there to support the district’s students by funding pilot projects and programs which highlight 21st century skills.  Think of REF as the research and development department for the district; without cost to the tax payers.”  Ms. Banks was pleased to be asked to take on the role as President and is looking forward to continuing and growing the great work of REF.

In order to better serve the District and the vision of Karen Baldwin, Superintendent of Schools, REF has begun to restructure its programs and outreach to the community.  Ms. Banks commented, “I have the pleasure of heading up REF, but have big shoes to fill.  Avery Costigan, REF’s past president has been key to REF’s success and I am glad that she will continue to be actively involved with REF.”  This change, including the addition of four (4) new Board Members will aid REF to more effectively accomplish their mission, and both Banks and Costigan are working towards that goal.

Founded in 2011, REF provides grants to RPS educators for pilot projects and programs that showcase 21st Century skills.  The mission of Ridgefield Education Foundation is to enhance the bridge between the community and our public schools.
