Ms. Banks is a local attorney with a general practice representing both business and individual clients in transactional, corporate, contract, commercial and real estate matters including publicly traded and large privately held companies. Ms. Banks worked for Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. for close to 15 years and was its Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. She has been practicing since 1992. Ms. Banks joined the Ridgefield Education Foundation in 2015 and on January 1, 2015 assumed the role of its President, succeeding its founding member and President, Avery Costigan. Ms. Banks is active in the community and is a member of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Counsel and is a Girl Scout Leader. She resides in Ridgefield with her husband, a Registered US Patent Agent and her daughter.
When asked why do you want to be a part of Ridgefield Education Foundation she replied, “I think it is important to give back to and support our community. One of the most, if not the most, valuable asset that Ridgefield has is our children. Ensuring that they are given every opportunity to succeed is vital. The Ridgefield Education Foundation fills such a critically important role in providing funding, that would not otherwise be available, for special projects and innovative programs that enhance the educational experience of our children.”
Mr. Wohl is a tax partner of a national accounting and consulting firm with more than 19 years of diversified public accounting experience. His services include developing business strategies for high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and multigenerational families. He also provides strategic tax planning and compliance services for senior management in industries that include real estate, hospitality, and entertainment. Alan spends a large part of his time consulting on family wealth and family office matters. Alan is generous with his time giving back to the community, including as a Board Member of The Ridgefield Education Foundation. Alan resides in Ridgefield, CT with his wife and 3 children.
Mr. Osborn is a Director, and founding member, of a clean energy focused private equity fund. In this role he is responsible for originating and executing on new investment opportunities, and is often engaged as a panelist or speaker at various clean energy related conferences. He is also an acting Secretary on three boards on behalf of his fund’s investments. Prior to joining the fund, he worked as an investment banker focused on the energy and clean energy sector. Mr. Osborn began his career as an environmental engineering consultant. Mr. Osborn is the Secretary of the Ridgefield Education Foundation (“REF”). In this capacity he is engaged in organizational planning and records. He resides in Ridgefield with his wife and his two children.
Ms. Coleman is an Interior Designer and owner of JKC Designs, a full service interior design firm established in 2007. She works in both residential & commercial design, locally in Ridgefield as well as NYC and at Colleges & Universities around the country. Her work has been featured in several national publications including House Beautiful & Entrepreneur Magazine. Jennifer lives in the West Mountain Estates neighborhood of Ridgefield with her husband, Greg, and their 2 children.
Kyla Dunn brings over 15 years of education and technology experience to Ridgefield Education Foundation. She worked in Boston Public Schools and Washington DC Public Schools as a teacher, instructional leader, and administrator. She developed English Language Arts and Math curriculum for Washington DC Public Schools after the adoption of Common Core State Standards. Kyla worked for Maryland State Department of Education implementing formative assessment practices into twenty-four districts. She was then recruited by Three Ring to create a professional services department that managed clients on a global level. Kyla and her family moved to Ridgefield last year and have become active in the community. Kyla currently consults with national clients creating and presenting professional development for teachers and leadership on the use of advanced technology to enhance student performance.
Mr. Lanzilli is an entrepreneur who has been involved with multiple software/hardware companies, a medical real estate development, and non-profits. He built a custom software and systems integration firm, Smart Home Designs (SHD) which was acquired in 2009 and was involved with the recapitalization of Violin Memory Inc., which his team took public in 2013 (NYSE: VMEM). Prior to embarking on a career as an entrepreneur he was a software developer at IBM and a sales engineer at Microsoft. Mr. Lanzilli is very active in the Ridgefield community and devotes his time to local organizations including coaching and fund raising for local sports teams including for Ridgefield Youth Football. He resides in Ridgefield with his wife and three children.
Heather Neumann Salaga has a 14+ year background in corporate human resources, most recently at PepsiCo. In 2015 Heather made a career change and is now a Realtor and partner of The Chip Neumann Team at Neumann Real Estate as well as local business owner. Heather and her husband, Robert own the Tutoring Club in Ridgefield and Stamford. In addition, Heather leads monthly workshops at TBICO in Danbury, an educational and employment resource center for individuals reentering the workforce. She grew up in Ridgefield, and experienced the outstanding RPS system going on to graduate from Boston University Questrom School of Business where she also was a teaching fellow. Ms. Yavenditti has worked in education for almost 20 years. She is Director of Global Education at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, CT and currently teaches Global Studies courses and coaches the High School debate team and has taught French (MS and HS level), coached MS sports, and served on a variety of committees. As Director of Global Education, she is a member of the Center for Leadership team and works to further its mission of helping students acquire a global perspective, a service orientation, and leadership skills. She oversees all aspects of global education from curriculum development to program design and delivery. She lives in Ridgefield with her husband and two children.
Ms. Costigan is the Past President and a founding member of the Ridgefield Education Foundation (“REF”). With a professional marketing and product development background and a passion for 21st century education she helped launch REF in 2011. Avery has dedicated the last decade to giving back to her community by volunteering, in various capacities with many non-profit organizations. She currently is responsible for development and Annual Giving and Alumni Relations at a local independent day school. She resides in Ridgefield with her husband and 3 children.
Ms. Misiewicz is a 7th grade English teacher at East Ridge Middle School. In addition to her main priorities as a teacher, Liz participates in a variety of educator roles including serving as one of 12 teachers on Governor Malloy’s Educators’ Common Core Implementation Taskforce. In addition she promotes TEAM, CT’s Teacher Education and Mentoring Program and provides perspective on the new teacher experience. Liz is a 2012 graduate from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development where she obtained her masters in English Education. She is excited to join REF and engage more teachers with the organization. In addition to being a Board Member of the Ridgefield Education Foundation, Liz is a Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County volunteer and is a member of their annual Run of Home 5k race committee.
Ms. Whelan is a teacher who has taught in the Ridgefield Public Schools since 1986. She currently teaches Kindergarten at Barlow Mountain Elementary School. In previous years she has taught first, second and third grades and she has served as a Literacy Coach for grades K – 5. She has attended Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Summer Institutes at Columbia University and has been a member of the National Charity League since 2004 where she has held several board positions. In addition to her commitment to the Ridgefield Education Foundation she devotes time to Safe Horizon in New York City and supports women and men who are victims of domestic violence. Ms. Whelan is a long time residents of Ridgefield and both of her children attended the Ridgefield Public Schools.
